Easter has been called the “Super Bowl of Church Attendance.” In all likelihood Easter is the most attended Sunday of the church year for United States churches according to LifeWay Research. In 2012 LifeWay conducted a study with 1000 Protestant pastors for the three highest attended....

Sundays in the church year. 93% picked Easter followed by Christmas at 84% and Mother’s Day at 59%. Easter Sunday will be April 16, 2017. I would like to share some ways Easter Weekend might be enhanced. First of all, invite. People are more likely to attend Easter services if they are invited rather than not being invited. The church where I served Mobile sent out postcards with service times and the activities of Easter weekend inviting families and friends to attend. Second, consider doing a Good Friday service. The Cross of Christ is the Gospel. Offer communion in a creative way to the families of your church on Good Friday. Third, another idea is to have an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday of Easter weekend. The Easter Egg Hunt allows pastor, staff, and volunteers to meet people in the community; and the community can learn more about your church. Finally, have special music and drama in your Easter service; and make this multi-generational. People love to see their kids acting and hear them singing. Easter is a great opportunity for us to reach the Harvest. I am praying that God gives the churches in the North Central Region the greatest Easter weekend ever. He Lives!!!
