From the Exodus of Egypt, God has called His people to worship corporately in His presence. One of the most familiar corporate worship settings is the camp meeting. Church of God people since the early 1900’s have worshiped in camp meetings and state assemblies.

The first one in North Dakota was conducted in July 1927 (Paths of a Pioneer, p. 197). In the NCR this summer we have two opportunities to gather and worship as a corporate body. The first is the Montana Camp Meeting, June 1-3, at Eureka Chapel of Praise. Dr. Tim Hill, General Overseer, will be the night speaker for this meeting. The second is the North Central Region Camp Meeting, June 20-24, at Eagle’s Wings Community Fellowship in Minot, North Dakota. Pastor Tim Oldfield will be our night speaker, and Dr. Mark Walker will be our morning Bible teacher. Dr. J. David Stephens will also be speaking on Wednesday night. Both camp meetings will conclude with a “Trending Conference” on Saturday mornings for youth and children’s ministries.

I am asking both laity and ministry to be in these meetings. Make this a family trip to each camp meeting. Both PK’s and the children of our laity should grow up with camp meeting being an annual highlight. Hebrews 10:24, 25 (KJV) says, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembly of ourselves together….” The call to assemble will be in both these camp meetings. I am asking God to pour out His Spirit upon us in these meetings. Paul H. Walker writes of this first camp meeting in Paths of a Pioneer, “God was in the camp. His power moved upon us and signs and wonders were witnessed.” Eighty years later may “God be in the camp again!” Mark your calendars, and let’s meet in our Lord’s presence in Eureka and Minot this summer for Camp Meeting.
